Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres

... is a small, mediavial place, among the popular wine-growing area Lirac. In the narrow streets you can find two bakeries for the daily fresh baguette, a tourist association, a "Bureau de tabac", where you can buy magazines and a coffee shop. The market is on Fridays.

Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres is a listed village and the village's history reaches back 1100 years. The ramparts, the Gothic keep ("donjon") and the fortified Romanesque church are the reminders of an eventful history, especially at the time of the Avignon Popes.
Its tall houses clustering within the town walls and its narrow lanes remain evocative of the Middle Ages. Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres is today a picturesque village with just under 2500 inhabitants. You will find a pretty new supermarket at the entrance of the village and a petrol station.
There are also restaurants and a coffee-shop.
Saint-Laurent-des-Arbres is the starting point for wonderful walks and travels in the manifold nature of forests of holm oaks and oines, wine-growing areas and "garrigue". There are also interesting tours for mountain bikers. The area is especially beautiful in the spring when the broom and rock rose are in blossom. But also all the other seasons have their special charm. The spring already starts at the end of February with the apricot blossom. In summer you can really enjoy the warmth, it is time for festivals and events everywhere. Still in September and October you can find here pleasant summer temperatures, and you have the advantage of the off-peak season to enjoy the attractions very calmly.
