You will find the weather mostly hospitable - though it does have to rain for the roses, the vines and the beautiful southern flora to prosper, you can count on more than three thousand hours of sunshine per year, twice as much as in Paris.
The Rhone valley is also characterised by the Mistral, the strong wind that blasts air from the north, sometimes causing the temperature to drop markedly within hours. The Mistral powerfully and durably blows off all cloud. Provence thanks it for its bright blue skies, which not only the Impressionist used to prize.
